Non-Geometric Magnetic Flux and Crossed Modules

چکیده
It is shown that the BRST operator of twisted N = 4 Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions is locally the same as the BRST operator of a fully decomposed non-Abelian gerbe. Using locally defined Yang-Mills theories we describe non-perturbative backgrounds that carry a novel magnetic flux. Given by elements of the crossed module G ⋉ AutG, these nongeometric fluxes can be classified in terms of the cohomology class of the underlying non-Abelian gerbe, and generalise the centre ZG valued magnetic flux found by ’t Hooft. These results shed light also on the description of non-local dynamics of the chiral five-brane in terms of non-Abelian gerbes.

Measurement and simulation of magnetic field strenght in the nano magnetic abrasive finishing process
Magnetic abrasive finishing can be classified as a non-traditional super finishing method for finishing surfaces with different shapes and working materials like flat plates, shafts, bearings parts, screws, tubes and many other mechanical parts that need good surface finishing properties. MAF is effective in polishing, cleaning, deburring and burnishing metal parts. The most important parameter...
متن کاملThe category of generalized crossed modules
In the definition of a crossed module $(T,G,rho)$, the actions of the group $T$ and $G$ on themselves are given by conjugation. In this paper, we consider these actions to be arbitrary and thus generalize the concept of ordinary crossed module. Therefore, we get the category ${bf GCM}$, of all generalized crossed modules and generalized crossed module morphisms between them, and investigate som...
متن کاملThe non-abelian tensor product of normal crossed submodules of groups
In this article, the notions of non-abelian tensor and exterior products of two normal crossed submodules of a given crossed module of groups are introduced and some of their basic properties are established. In particular, we investigate some common properties between normal crossed modules and their tensor products, and present some bounds on the nilpotency class and solvability length of the...

متن کاملCrossed squares, crossed modules over groupoids and cat$^{bf {1-2}}-$groupoids
The aim of this paper is to introduce the notion of cat$^{bf {1}}-$groupoids which are the groupoid version of cat$^{bf {1}}-$groups and to prove the categorical equivalence between crossed modules over groupoids and cat$^{bf {1}}-$groupoids. In section 4 we introduce the notions of crossed squares over groupoids and of cat$^{bf {2}}-$groupoids, and then we show their categories are equivalent....
